Expectations Enhanced Trust Model

چکیده
With the emergence of the web of services and the semantic web, the need to find different methods of web service selection is gaining importance. Many efforts are focusing on the aspects of building the trust networks on the semantic web as well as agent-based models to utilize the trust in selecting the appropriate web service from a group of available services. The main direction of the research is to provide a model by which trust can be computed for several service providers that are available to accomplish the same task. In this work, we explore the concept of ’User Expectations’. The trust is based on the rating assigned by the user. The rating is based on user satisfaction, which is based on the fulfilment of the user expectations. Without taking into consideration the original user expectations, the assigned ratings are not objective, but rather subjective. Thus, we propose a semantic web based model for capturing the user expectations to enhance the trust rating based on the requesting user’s own expectations. We evaluate our approach via simulations on a simplified but realistic service instances and past and current consumers each with their own expectations. Our results show that using these considerations for user expectations, service agents are able to determine over time the best service selection for a consumer.

Toward a Better Understanding of Trust on Outcomes: The Case of Patient-Physician Encounters
Trust in physicians has been associated with a range of patients’ behaviors. However, previous research has not focused on the mechanisms by which trust affects health status and mostly has made use of self-reported outcomes. Studying a sample of 480 adult patients with type 2 diabetes, we found that patients who trust their physicians were more likely to have stronger self-efficacy expectation...

متن کاملTowards Usable Generation and Enforcement of Trust Evidence from Programmers' Intent
Programmers develop code with a sense of purpose and with expectations on how units of code should interact with other units of code. But this intent of programmers is typically implicit and undocumented, goes beyond considerations of functional correctness, and may depend on trust assumptions that programmers make. At present, neither programming languages nor development environments offer a ...
متن کاملTrust Incident Account Model: Preliminary Indicators for Trust Rhetoric and Trust or Distrust in Blogs
This paper defines a concept of trust incident accounts as verbal reports of empirical episodes in which a trustor has reached a state of positive or negative expectations of a trustee’s behavior under associated risks. Such expectations are equated to trust and distrust, correspondingly, and present a sharp contrast with hypocritical use of trust rhetoric with ulterior motives such as an attem...
متن کاملAlternative Origins to Interorganizational Trust: An Interdependence Perspective on the Shadow of the Past and the Shadow of the Future
Despite the widespread acceptance of trust as an informal governance institution, our understanding of its origins is nascent. Our review of the literature identified two distinct explanations: Trust emerges from either a shadow of the past (i.e., prior history) or a shadow of the future (i.e., expectations of continuity). In this paper we develop and empirically examine a third perspective: Th...
